Specifically, peroxidase activity involves donating electrons to ferricyanides and ascorbic acid to break them into harmless components. Cholesterol oxidase (EC 1.1.3.6) is an enzyme that catalyzes the cholesterol and O2 into cholest-4-en-3-one and H2O2. This enzyme participates in bile acid biosynthesis.
