| Description |
Creatine kinase M type, also known as creatine kinase M chain or M-CK, is a human protein encoded by the CKM gene. It belongs to the ATP:guanosine monophosphate transferase family, comprising one phosphokinase C-terminal domain and one phosphokinase N-terminal domain. CK-M reversibly catalyzes phosphate transfer between ATP and various phosphates. It plays a central role in tissues with high and fluctuating energy demands, such as skeletal muscle, heart, brain, and sperm. |
